John Farnham was chosen to sing a duet with Olivia Newton-John at the
Opening Ceremony of the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
They performed a beautiful rendition of the wonderfully inspiring song
'Dare To Dream'.
Referring to their participation:
John said "It was an absolute dream and I'll never forget it."
Olivia said “it was one of the most exciting honours of my life."
In an interview on the Network Ten TV show The Project in 2015, John confesed he dropped Olivia when he was distracted during rehearsal. "We did the Olympics together and during the rehearsal, I dropped her. I let her go and down she went and she had this long sparkly-arkly dress on and we were walking up the middle of the crowd of volunteers, who were helping just so the camera could get the shot, and two pretty girls were going 'John, John come up' ... and I dropped her and I felt terrible."
