Tommy Emmanuel
Tommy first started playing the guitar at age four
learning to play by ear without any formal instruction. Emmanuel and his brother Phil were child prodigies, starting their professional career in the 1960s when Phil was just 7-years-old and Tommy a mere 4 years old.
His first band the "Emmanuel Quartet" was formed in 1960, with Tommy as rhythm guitarist, brothers Phil and Chris as lead guitarist and drummer, sister Virginia on Hawaiian steel guitar. He's is a sought after sessions player.Tommy performs alone, with brother Phil, with his band, with a String Quartet, or the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Tommy Emmanuel's career spans three decades and continues to intersect with some of the finest musicians in the world time and time again. Tommy's unique style - he calls it simply "finger style" - is akin to playing guitar the way a pianist plays a piano.
